
 
We can look at the color of the ocean to see the freshwater plume from the Hudson River.
 
 
We can also use Sea Surface Temperature (SST) maps to study the shape of the plume. In the springtime, shallow waters in rivers and bays (shown in red) heat up faster than ocean waters (shown in blue)
